Case Studies

  • Collateral ligament injury of the coffin joint - after sustaining the injury, the horse had received different forms of treatment without improvement.  It was not until shockwave therapy was used that a significant improvement in posture and gait was recorded.
  • Pedal bone fracture - recovery from a palmer wing fracture was initially very slow with rest only.  A course of shockwave therapy was started, which significantly improved recovery.
  • Desmitis of suspensory ligament branches - shockwave therapy was used alongside intramuscular injections and altered exercise regimes.
  • Kissing spines - several cases have shown good success with shockwave therapy alone or in conjunction with steroid injections.

These case studies were provided by Emmanuel Engeli MRCVS
