  • Flushing the donor mare and embryo retrieval
  • Embryo handling and transfer, grading embyos
  • Maximising pregancy rates in donor and recipient mares
  • Embryo storage/distribution techniques
  • Factors affecting recovery raes
  • Managing the recipient mare
  • Inseminating embryos, techniques using different catheters

A one day course for vets wanting to improve their knowledge of equine fertility. Lectures in the morning, practical sessions in the afternoon.

 

Topics Covered:-

  • Stallion handling
  • Ultrasonography of the reproductive tract (Theory and practical)
  • Endoscopy of the reproductive tract (Theory and practical)
  • Semen evaluation and frozen semen handling (Theory and practical)
  • Maximising semen quality from sub-fertile stallions
  • Practical session on training a stallion to a dummy mare
  • Practical session on centrifugation and use of extenders
